The CoffeeBoy Review

Broward's best specialty roaster, from a Kickstarter to Flagler Village's remote-work headquarters.

The Story

Wells Coffee started with a Kickstarter. In 2013, Brandon and Nicole Wells raised the money for a small Boca Raton shop with a 6-pound roaster; today, the Flagler Village flagship runs a 20-pound roaster and supplies about 50 wholesale partners across South and Central Florida. Nicole is a certified Q-grader — the coffee-equivalent of a sommelier. If there's a specialty-coffee scene in Fort Lauderdale, Wells built it.

What to Order

The Draft Horchata Cold Brew is the CoffeeBoy pick and it's not close — their famous one, horchata meets cold brew, on draft. It's the drink that made them famous and it earns every bit of the hype.

The Cortado is textbook — if you know, you know. The Pour-Over is house-roasted single-origin, brewed to order. And a bag of No. 9, their signature house blend, is the souvenir that will make you better at making coffee at home.

The Experience

Wells is spacious, with plenty of seating and a wall of windows at the Tarpon River location. The wifi measured 65 Mbps during our visit, the noise stayed genuinely quiet, and the room already felt natural for a full laptop session.

It's the rare roaster that's equally good for a first date and a full workday. The Flagler Village location sits in an arts district often compared to Wynwood, and the Tarpon River outpost has the windows and patio for slow afternoons. Worth the drive from Miami, full stop.

The Verdict

Spacious, quiet, and the horchata cold brew is a religious experience. Wells is Broward's answer to Panther — a serious roaster that doubles as the region's best remote-work headquarters.
